Bridget O'Connor

Bridget was a BAFTA-winning author, playwright and screenwriter. With her partner, Peter Straughan, she co-wrote the screenplay for the critically acclaimed Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, based on John le Carre’s celebrated novel.

Bridget was one of the great short story writers of her generation. She had a voice that was viscerally funny and an eye for both the glaring reality and the absurdity of the everyday.

A compiled collection of her short stories, After a Dance, was published by Picador to great acclaim in 2024: “Some of the wildest, arresting, just plain brilliant short stories I’ve read in a long time” – Roddy Doyle.

Bridget sadly passed away in 2010.
