Bridget O'Connor

Bridget was a BAFTA-winning author, playwright and screenwriter. With her partner, Peter Straughan, she co-wrote the screenplay for the critically acclaimed Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, based on John le Carre’s celebrated novel.

 

Bridget was one of the great short story writers of her generation - with a voice that was viscerally funny and an eye for both the glaring reality and the absurdity of the everyday.

 

A collection of her short stories, After a Dance, was published by Picador to great acclaim in 2024: “Some of the wildest, arresting, just plain brilliant short stories I’ve read in a long time” – Roddy Doyle.

 

Bridget sadly passed away in 2010.
