The multi-award-winning and bestselling author adult, YA, and children’s books. Patrick has won every major prize in children’s fiction, including the Carnegie Medal twice.
A Monster Calls, inspired by an idea by the late Siobhan Dowd, is published in 40 languages and was adapted by Patrick into a 2016 film starring Sigourney Weaver, Liam Neeson and Felicity Jones. Its subsequent stage production received an Olivier Award.
The first title in his acclaimed Chaos Walking trilogy was also adapted into a major film starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley in 2021. A thrilling follow-up trilogy, The New World, is currently in the works.
Chronicles of a Lizard Nobody: The Hat of Great Importance – the second book in his acclaimed, laugh-out-loud middle-grade series – is set to release in June 2025.
Canongate recently announced their move for his ‘genre-bending and phenomenal’ adult love story Meridian, coming in 2027.
Patrick is also an outstanding screenwriter. He created and wrote the 8-part BBC Doctor Who spinoff Class and has written for Fox, Lionsgate, Apple, Warner Brothers and Entertainment One. He is currently developing a Master and Commander prequel for 20th Century Studios, and a Count of Monte Cristo remake for Department M.
