This week, The Bookseller published an article following the plight for bookshops to be able share the same tax relief that PM Andy Burnham has announced will soon be enjoyed by pubs, clubs, and live music venues. Much like music, literature is a cornerstone of culture that deserves to be economically protected.
See Patrick's statement on the UK's indie bookshops:
“In the current encircling corporate darkness, independent booksellers are lighthouses. They are almost the last beacons shining to remind us about private reading, personal discovery, and the life-saving joy of encountering minds and hearts that speak to us as one person to another. They are precious, and they deserve every kind of legal and financial protection a good government would give them – would give us.”
